Powerful conversations. Shared learning. Collective action.

It has been an inspiring few days at the Africa at the Centre Convening, organized by the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) and partners, where we joined members of the Ghana Community-Led Development Collaborative to reflect on a fundamental question:

What does development look like when African communities are not just participants, but leaders of the change they want to see?

Through rich conversations and the sharing of experiences, ideas, and practical solutions, we were reminded that sustainable development must be rooted in local leadership, community ownership, and collective action.

Our Collaborative retreat earlier in the week further strengthened this commitment, as we worked on our collective vision, communication strategy, Community Management Committees (CMCs), and shared lessons from our respective organizations.

We leave these engagements with renewed energy, deeper connections, and a stronger commitment to putting communities at the centre of development.

The Africa we want will be built by Africans, with communities leading the way.
